São Vicente: Recovery After Intense Rainfall and Storms
On 11 August, São Vicente was struck by intense rainfall and storms that left a mark on the island. The hardest hit areas were Praça Estrela and Laginha Beach, where floodwaters caused significant damage, and in the hillside neighborhoods where many vulnerable families live. Homes were lost, streets were flooded, and communities are still working hard to recover.

Amidst these challenges, we are relieved to share that our three apartments – Boa Mindelo City, Azul and Beach – were not affected and remain fully operational. Guests can expect comfort, safety and all facilities intact.
What visitors can still enjoy:
- Walking distance to Mindelo’s cultural center, shops and restaurants
- Fully equipped T1, T2 and T3 apartments for 2–6 guests
- A quiet residential setting offering comfort and security
While Laginha Beach will need time to be restored, the city of Mindelo is already showing its resilience. Markets are reopening, cultural life is returning, and the famous nightlife, with its cafés, bars and live music, is coming back to life.
São Vicente has always been an island of music, culture and warmth, and even after the storm, that spirit remains unshaken.
